Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival 2026

The Yeouido Spring Flower Festival is Seoul’s most prominent cherry blossom event, centred on the kilometre-long Yunjung-ro avenue that runs through Yeouido Hangang Park on the south bank of the Han River. When the roughly 1,400 cherry trees along this avenue reach full bloom, the effect is one of the more striking urban spring scenes in East Asia. The festival typically runs for around 10 days from late March into early April, depending on that year’s weather; exact dates shift annually with the blossom forecast.

Peak bloom and timing

Cherry blossoms in Seoul are highly weather-dependent. The city’s meteorological service issues blossom forecasts from early March, and local media track progress carefully. Peak bloom generally lasts five to seven days before wind or rain causes the petals to fall. The festival period is set around the anticipated peak but is not guaranteed to align exactly. In 2026, the festival runs 28 March to 6 April - check local weather forecasts in mid-March for the most accurate bloom prediction.

The blossom is most photogenic in the early morning before crowds arrive. The avenue becomes very congested from late morning through to evening during peak bloom weekends, with queues forming on the pedestrian path. Coming before 8 am on a weekday gives substantially better access and light.

Beyond the avenue

Yeouido Hangang Park extends along the riverbank with cycle paths, open grass areas and food vendors. During the festival period, the park hosts a small market and cultural stalls near the main avenue. The surrounding Yeouido business district has a secondary cluster of cherry trees along its streets, which is also worth walking during the same period.

Getting there

Yeouido is served by Subway Line 5 (Yeouinaru or Yeouido stations) and Line 9 (National Assembly station). The park entrance on the Han River side is a short walk from Yeouinaru Station. Cycling from central Seoul along the Han River cycle path is a practical and popular option during the festival period.
